Solutions Engineer
A Solutions Engineer is an engineering professional with multiple years of hands-on project experience and involvement with developing solutions to a variety of engineering and manufacturing problems. The Solutions Engineer principally operates as a SYSTEMS DEVELOPER with demonstrated proficiency in project engineering and automation technology.
Responsibilities & Activities
Project Delivery
- Perform system-wide design and development for industrial control, process control, or industrial information and data applications on specified projects
- Incorporate innovation and creativity at appropriate levels during development to impact system effectiveness
- Oversee project deployment efforts of the site installation and commissioning teams
- Provide field service and site engineering as needed
Front-end Engineering and Commercial
- Provide input to internal project team risk assessments and contingency plans
- Develop specifications for user requirements, functionality, and system design
- Assist sales team with estimating costs for project development labor
Quality
- Develop solutions in compliance with best practices and system safety conventions
- Execute testing protocols and other quality activities
- Participate in quality assurance activities such a design reviews and deliverable approvals
- Provide feedback to project managers and technical leads during project closeout, audits, & performance monitoring
- Operate within established project budgets and defined project scopes of work
Leadership
- Operate in a Technical Lead and/or Project Manager role on select projects as assigned
- Serve as a technical mentor to assigned engineers or students
- Provide on-the-job training through technical coaching of lesser experienced engineers
- Provide 360 performance feedback to management for engineers and other project team members
- Contribute to company continuous improvement through participation on company pillar workstream activities
Knowledge & Experience
- Versatility in design and development of control and information systems for manufacturing
- Practical experience consulting with clients during solution architecting and project implementation
- Experience with advanced programming and commissioning of complex systems containing industrial controllers, computers and networking equipment across multiple platforms and languages
- Broad knowledge of manufacturing, automation, industrial controls, and information systems
- Familiarity with project management techniques and methodologies
- Background in overseeing the work of others
- Knowledge of project quality systems and quality management techniques
- Awareness of all aspects of a manufacturing ecosystem (ISA-95 model: levels 0-4)

Education
- Engineering/Technology/Science B.S. Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Manufacturing
